Little surprises around every corner, but nothing dangerous. Don’t be alarmed. — Willy Wonka

No detail was left out in planning this little one’s first birthday party. Right from the invitations, Waaijer Bars (Wonka Bars) were sent out with Golden Tickets, just like in the movie.

Everything was custom-made: at the entrance, there was a welcome signage with an Oompa Loompa greeting the guests. The backdrop made you feel like you were actually in the Chocolate Factory with Willy Wonka. There was a chocolate waterfall made of brown balloons, candy trees, giant candies, more Oompa Loompas, every single aspect from the movie. Towering whimsical centerpieces were filled with Wonka candies and lollipops growing out of the grass. A talented balloon twister entertained the guests by creating anything from simple swords to more elaborate monkeys on trees, which was given to the birthday boy.

The kids had a blast and were not short of things to do, as we positioned the party right beside the hotel’s playground. A Big Chill stall kept everyone hydrated with fresh fruit shakes while the Sofitel had a kid-friendly buffet with Open Faced Sandwiches with Smiles, Hotdogs, Pizzas, Spaghetti, and a whole lot of desserts.

The highlight of the party was the towering 4-tier birthday cake that was even bigger than the birthday boy! It had every detail of the movie on it, from the chocolate river to Violet Beauregarde blown up as a blueberry. All the guests gathered to sing a Happy Birthday to the little one.

Amidst all the fun and games, the kids got to take home truckloads of candies in their very own Waaijer trucks. There was a full candy bar, featuring 3-inch big Everlasting Gobstoppers and The World’s Largest Gummy Bear weighing 5lbs! Just on the side, was a Candy Tree where the kids could pluck out more candies. But we didn’t just satisfy their sweet tooth, we also handed out a more stimulating give away – lenticular puzzles for each child.

Not long later, exhausted but candies still in tow, the children went home with the widest grins on their faces.
